Genre: South African Jazz
Country: South Africa

Artist Bio:

Ziyaduma was formed in March 2003 and continues to grow from strength to strength. They are a household name in the region they hail from, being very active in the live arena, and will soon be known nationally as the quality of music they present on their debut release Phelandaba (produced by Selaelo Selota) will certainly transcend all boundaries of language, style and color.

Initially formed out of a jazz jamming session at Sweet Lorrain Jazz Club in Klerksdorp, owned and run by Jaycee Nxamakele, who has subsequently become the group's manager as well as the executive mayor of the town, the group has managed to sustain themselves through live events and a commitment to their music and vision.

Interest in these talented youngsters has been extreme and their signing to Sheer Record company as well as the pulling in of producer Selaelo Selota, a job he was personally very keen to undertake, is a clear indication of the level from which this band springs to market.

Vocally led by the awesome tone and control of Reuben "Maboshobosho" Kwetsi, he is backed by Papiki "Mbizela" Motekoane on guitar, Robinson "Stjovi" Faku on keys, Tshepo Sithole on bass guitar, Mpho "Bobo" Zukelwa on drums (who also acts as group leader) and Thabiso Lephea on percussions.

All have had various experiences from an early age with music, from musical families and backgrounds to school and church choirs.

It is now, however, that they spring into the mainstream of the music market with an album sure to make waves and be the talk of several towns. —Courtesy Calabash Music
