Artist Bio:
Tactequete consists of seven eclectic musicians who combine melodies, rhythms and moods using an assortment of mainly wind and percussion instruments within a musical setting that is eminently creative.
Deft touches of humor combine with a visually attractive stage setting to make an unlikely musical show. Drums and flutes of varied provenance, instruments made from junk material, day-to-day objects with multiple sound possibilities, steel drums, whistles, basses. . . even seeds and conch shells help them to create their exotic rhythms, that are full of warmth and color.
Previous to Tactequete, their only album to date was Guarana, recorded in 2000. Apart from that, the members have collaborated as sidemen in several other recordings, such as "Viva quien sabe querer," by Eliseo Parra; "Hellonandu," by Jazz el Destipador; "El bolero del Raval," by Marc Martinez, and "Razas de la noche," by Azucarillo Kings, as well as soundtrack work for the films Sexo por compasion, directed by Laura Mas, and Arachnid, directed by Jack Shoulder, both of them with Kiko Gener as composer. They have also played with La Fura dels Baus at the Hannover Expo and other places. Other collaborations have been with the Danzadas dance company that included music by Tactequete in its Psyco show, and at the awards ceremony of the Barcelona Erotic Cinema Festival.
Tactequete's sounds go all the way from rainforest soundscapes to African traditional rhythms, interspersed with funk experiments or simple musical games. Courtesy Calabash Music
