Artist Name: Stock-X-Change
Genre: South African Pop
Country: South Africa

Artist Bio:

Stock-X-Change were winners of RP Studios' Emerging Sounds competition, and as part of their prize, won a recording contract with Sheer Music. The result of their winnings is Stock-X-Change's debut album!

The band was formed early in 2002 for a project recording. The band has since evolved into a full gigging outfit, playing at most of the venues in the Jo'burg and Pretoria region. Stock-X-Change is a Pretoria-based four-piece rock band. The band has had a few different members, but the current band is made up of four great friends: John Davidson (vocals and acoustic guitar), Dean Crichton (drums), Glynn Peterson (bass) and Damian Phillips (electric guitar).

The band's sound is a fusion of styles, as each member brings a different feel and musical flavor to the table. Stock-X-Change's sound is unique but can be compared to that of Live. The Dave Matthews Band has a strong influence on the band's creativity, and being tight as a group is what they work on constantly.

Stock-X-Change has had the privilege of sharing a stage with great bands such as Cutting Jade, Prime Circle, Jo-Day, The Parlatones, Goose Gap, Scicoustic and The Abbotts to name a few.

Stock-X-Change have come to realize that being musically good is not enough to be a success in the S.A. music industry. It owes them nothing. They are a hardworking band and strive to make their mark. —Courtesy Calabash Music
