Artist Name: Samir Joubran
Genre: Arab Classical
Country: Palestine

Artist Bio:

Samir and Wassam Joubran are the creme de la crème among Palestinian oud players. Their style consists of improvisations, original tunes and traditional themes that simply enthrall. The complicity between these two musicians and their musical odes compel their audiences to hope for a more peaceful world.

Samir Joubran was born in Nazareth in the Galilee into a family with a rich tradition in music. Samir's father Hatem is a prominent oud-maker in the Arab world, and his mother is a former Muashahat choir singer. Samir was first introduced to the oud at the age of five by his father, and later entered in the Music Institute of Nazareth at the age of nine. In 1995, Samir graduated from Muhammed Abudl Wahhab Conservatoire in Cairo, a highly respected musical institution in the Arab world, specializing in oud. —Courtesy Calabash Music
