In 1995, the public discovered three peculiar vocalists alongside Steve Coleman under the name of Metrics: Kokayi, Black Indian and Sub-Zero. Steeped into this band, hardened by all sorts of rhythmic formulas, the three comrades let their music mature individually before setting up their own combo: Opus Akoben, a war name, the whole of black music as horizon. The album sounds like a huge honeymoon between soul music and hip-hop.
