Artist Name: Naguila
Country: France, Morocco

Artist Bio:

Naguila is a Judeo-Arabic band, two French sepharade Jews and two Muslim Morrocans. They play a music rooted in the common history of their communities. Pierre Luc Ben Soussan is the project initiator. As he collected some synagogue songs, he thought that this very culture was disappearing because of the death of people involved. So, he thought, had to promote it. The Ziriab's nuba but also wedding songs from Arabo-Andalusian repertory are at the center of the Naguila ensemble's work.

Nowadays these worlds are often opposite. The Naguila ensemble shows that, in the past, for over a thousand years, they could create wonderful music together.
