Country: United States

Artist Bio:

Lovewhip is a fresh and original female-fronted four-piece dance band from Boston.

Playing their own unique brand of jammin' rock music in the vein of Talking Heads, Sublime, and No Doubt, the Boston Globe exclaims that "Lovewhip has a celebratory and upbeat feel that has kept crowds dancing everywhere they play."

Lovewhip's music uses elements of African highlife, soukous, and juju, Jamaican reggae and dub, creating a new cutting-edge sound that is highly infectious. Lovewhip's great vocal harmonies and blasting saxophone solos will put a smile on your face, cause your booty to vibrate, and encourage a sultry motion to emanate from all parts of your body.

All Lovewhip members can crack the whip in their own right. Lead singer Empress Erin Harpe's background is in delta blues and it comes through in her passionate and vampy vocal style. She is also Lovewhip's sole guitar player, weaving melodic Afro-pop guitar lines with percussive Jamaican skanks on her jet black Gibson guitar.

Bassist Juicy Jim Countryman, with his Afrofunk world punk style, lays down the bass so hard he nearly grooves out of his shoes, all the while providing vocal harmonies.

Warren Jones, a.k.a. Wojo, is master of the keyboards, tenor saxophone, electronica, samples, and MC-ing on the mike.

And drummer and superwhip sex star Andreas Brade rips up a slew of crazy cross-cultural dance beats, never tiring in his main aim to vibrate the dance floor!
