Artist Name: Los Activos
Genre: Flamenco
Country: Spain

Artist Bio:

Los Activos developed from workshops established to keep youth out of trouble in the outskirts of Huelva, an industrial city near Sevilla, Spain. The neighborhood's young people came together to perform flamenco, both because it was the music that they had all grown up with and it was the least expensive. Using hands, feet, notebooks, doors, even constructing their own instruments, the participants began uncovering a new side of flamenco.

The director of the workshop picked the most advanced students to form Los Activos, and they began performing in flamenco clubs around Spain. Their fresh perspective has earned them a place as one of the most creative flamenco groups. With their surprising mix of orthodox flamenco styles, African and Middle Eastern rhythms, Los Activos breathes new life into an ancient style yet leaves in the heart and soul.
