JUST LIKE THAT is the debut album from Leroy "The Grandmaster" Young, Belize's finest dub-poet.
"This has been one of the most gratifying recording experiences I have ever had" said producer and musician Ivan Duran. "I hope this album marks a new departure for our music, where lyrics will become more meaningful and relevant. I believe this is the most straightforward and innovative album ever produced in Belize."
With topics dealing with issues such as corruption, police brutality, poverty, love and politics, the album also stands to become a controversial one.
"Freedom of speech? Why we say we have freedom of speech if we are afraid to say what we really want?" says Grandmaster. "In this album, I tell it like it is, raw, Just Like That
. I know people will respect that".
This album is part of the Creole Experience Recording Project from which Stonetree Records will release, between 2003 and 2006, several new albums featuring Belize's most important Creole artists. This project has been kindly supported by HIVOS.
