Artist Bio:
Jabier Muguruza was born in Irún in 1960 and was introduced at the age of five to the world of music. After years playing as a soloist on accordion, he began to collaborate in numerous projects.
He was part of the group Joxe Ripiau from its beginnings until its dissolution in the year 2000.
In 1994 he released his first disk as singer-songwriter. He uses this and subsequent solo releases to interpret and play with his own texts and those of Iñaki Irazu, Bernardo Atxaga, Joseba Sarrionandia, J. Luis Padron, Inazio Mujika, Xabier Lete and more.
He has also participated in many projects, including the disk-book New Etiopia, and on works of Bernardo Atxaga, Mikel Laboa, Ruper Ordorika, Gari, J.C. Perez, Kiko Poison, Luis Eduardo Aute, Loquillo, M of the Sea Bonet, Angel Petisme and J. Wall, as well as the disk homage to Jackson Browne, "You Sing Me My Songs."
In recent years, Jabier Muguruza has toured extensively, showcasing the music of the Basque region, and he continues to combine his musical activity with his literary work and participate in diverse literary-musical projects. Courtesy Calabash Music
