Artist Bio:
Formerly of Lumbani Madoda fame, Hosanna Gospel Band is an eight-member musical outfit committed to spreading the gospel through music. With each member contributing a unique touch to the group, owed to the vast experience they possess, Hosanna convincingly brings out the Afro rhythm for each ethnic group in this country, from kalindula, imfunkutu, siyomboka, chitelele, akalela, mantyantya, etc, to the international touches of rhumba, chimurenga, mutusashi, etc.
Formed in January 2004, the band have put together a nine-track album with a carefully chosen message: rich songs dedicated to those who love African beat. What an entertaining way to be inspired, encouraged, cautioned, and enriched.
Following are the men of Hosanna:
Dickson Chinyanga: band leader/vocalist/composer whose singing career stretches as far as ten years.
Rev Robbie Chishimba: band chaplin/vocalist/composer. Currently pastor of Victory Chapel in Kabanana, the reverend is a veteran with a musical career stretching far back to the days of Kawale and the Green Labels.
Benson Miti: lead guitarist/rhythm guitarist /composer. A highly talented musician who is held in high esteem by the local music fraternity in both the gospel and non-gospel genre. Definitely an authority in the guitar world, who has rubbed shoulders and performed with the resident bands of Ridgeway Hotel and Intercontinental Hotel.
Elvis Zola: drummer/percussionist/composer. With over 20 years of musical experience, Elvis can truly confirm that music has been and still is his life. He has played drums for many bands, both in Zambia and Congo DR.
Osward Mulenga: bassist. Osward's natural flare for music - be it traditional, contemporary or jazz - can be heard on the album. His fellow band members comment on the man's talent by simply saying, "Hear him rumble the bass guitar and you will praise God."
Richard Mulanda: vocalist. The energetic addition to the band that comes from the Bethal fame days.
Zakeyo Ng'uni: rhythm guitar. Music teacher Zaks, a worthy addition to Hosanna, played at the Great Maranatha in Kitwe.
Brother Jack Sakala: composer/recording engineer/keyboard player and producer. Known as Bro Jack the Music Pastor, this man has contributed his talents to churches and musical groups countrywide.
Hosanna's main goal is to travel the region in order us to expose neighboring countries to their style of gospel and also give them a chance to expand and develop as a group. Courtesy Calabash Music
