Guto Pires

Guitarist and singer Guto Pires was born in Guinea-Bissau but has lived in Portugal since the '70s, when he formed the group Issabary. He also performs with the ensemble Sons da Fala with some of the best musicians from the Portuguese-speaking African countries, including Vitorino, Janita Salomé, Sergio Godinho, Filipe Mukenga, and Tito Paris. —Courtesy Calabash Music
