Artist Bio:

Grupo Caribe is a New York City-based band that performs mambo/salsa dance music. Included in the band's repertoire are big band mambos, cha cha cha, son montunos, bomba and plena, boleros, merengue and Latin jazz.

The band is a nine-member musical ensemble bringing to life songs made popular by Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, Machito, Johnny Pacheco, Ismael Rivera, Raphael Cortijo, in addition to original compositions and arrangements.

Their CD, Un Congo Me Dio La Letra, is a sparkling salsa project, produced by veteran band-leader/pianist Sergio Rivera, featuring an all-star line up of leading New York musicians and singers. Highly infectious, this up-tempo grouping of songs with original arrangements underscores deep dance grooves and vibrates with an almost big band flair. —Courtesy Calabash Music
