Using the best of South African artistic talent and experience gained through Chicco Sello Twala and DJ Walker, the previous Geneses Verse 2 album was filled with credible easy soulful kwaito original beats, with the gospel kwaito house track called "Simakade." An album made with true talent especially for the festive season of 2003 and party experiences for music lovers.
The group actively performed around the country and neighboring countries to ever-increasing audiences. The content of their album and extensive tours resulted in the album selling in excess of 40,000 copies.
Geneses is certainly one of South Africa's most successful kwaito bands.
With DJ Walker (Themba Dhladhla) as a producer behind Geneses's first and second albums, has contributed to the group being taken into the hearts and souls of many people across Southern Africa. Voted News Makers of the Year in 2003 by the Sunday Sun newspaper, with three number-one hits on various music stations and a heavy touring schedule, which averaged twelve shows per month for more than three years, Geneses has managed to touch many souls musically. Geneses is partially made up of guys on DJ Walker concepts with popular songs like "Shesa Mpama" and "Sweety My Lovey."
In 2002 Geneses entered one of their original songs, "Phamkade," meaning HIV (written by Themba Dhladhla) into the HIV/AIDS national tour hosted by Love Life and Trust condoms. It is a very good indication of what the band was and still is capable of.
The last three years have shaped the band into an incredible live act! They've begun finding what really works on stage and off, which has also influenced their song-writing skills.
The band has dropped a new album called Geneses Roll Ova. It was released late August 2004 and sold in excess of 10,000 copies within two weeks of its release. The new album was produced by Qaks and Jerah. It features the great Andy Brown, who has contributed to the success of the group Revolution. It has 15 songs that include Afro-pop, house, African love songs, like "Thoffolux," Afro-House songs like "Yaka Yaka," "Vulisekele" and two songs from previous album: "Afrika" and "Amabeer Abandayo." It is a South African production, with an African continent element in it. "Vulisekele" and "Yaka Yaka" are the first singles that are being pushed on radio. Courtesy Calabash Music
