Artist Name: Dupain
Genre: World Fusion
Country: France

Artist Bio:

Dupain is one of the groups living and working in the ancient Roman city of Arles, in the Occitan region of southern France. Writing and performing original work, this trio draws on both the songs of the 19th century local working class revolt and modern electronic music. Regularly programmed at the festival Les Suds in Arles, over the past few years they have succeeded in rising from grassroots stardom to a status of national artist with a major record label deal, becoming one of the first groups to rise from the local Provençal scene and gain a wider audience.

With their mix of tambourines, drums, hurdy-gurdy, sequencers and both traditional and original songs, both on record and live, Dupain provokes a high-emotion, almost trance-like experience.

Dupain, a band with a sound that combines Manu Chao and the Fabulous Trobadors with Saul Williams!

Delving into their Occitan roots and the myriad rhythms of the Mediterranean, Dupain comes up with powerful music with a message—the sound has an energy straight from the sources of rock and roll and the social engagement of popular folk. —Courtesy Calabash Music
