Artist Name: Bossacucanova
Genre:
Bossa Nova
Country:
Brazil
Artist Bio:
The three young Rio de Janeiro producers/musicians of Bossacucanova have been recording contemporary albums of jazzy electronic bossa nova themes. The trio, Marcelinho DaLua, Marcio Menescal, and Alexandre Moriera have teamed up with original bossa nova hero Roberto Menescal to become a complete band.
Bossacucanova shows off the unique guitar and vocal scat styles of Roberto, who also happens to be Marcio's father. Roberto was Elis Regina's exclusive musical director in the late '60s. He is the composer of such standards as "O Barquinho" and "Bye Bye, Brasil."
Roberto later became one of the most respected producers of the '70s, overseeing such artists as Caetano Veloso, Jorge Ben, Gal Costa, and many more.
Their recordings prove to be a tasteful combination of Bossacucanova's programming skills, Roberto's laid-back guitar playing and performances from a host of guest musicians and vocalists. Courtesy Calabash Music
