Alma Rosa

Rosa was born in Brazil, is based in Paris and sings like a Cuban, with a lush, supple voice that spins through the music like a delirious dancer. Her compositions are drawn from the son and Cuban folkloric music, with arrangements that draw on the rhythms of Brazil, Spain and Argentina.

Also a gifted actress, Alma Rosa stars in Venezuelan filmmaker Fina Torres's Celestial Clockwork, where Alma Rosa composed and sang the Latin pieces in the film, including the title song. —Courtesy Calabash Music
