Review:
Today, although some of the more established exponents of the genre have long been recognised in Mali - Kagbe Sidibe graced their TV screens as long ago as the 1960s; Coumba Sidibe first made her name some 10 years ago with "L'Ensemble Instrumentale du Mali" - the Wassoulou sound, especially in the hands of its new young stars like Sali Sidibe and Oumou Sangare, is increasingly in demand.
This compilation put Wassoulou on the world-music map.
