Album Reviews

Review:
This selection is a tribute to the heyday of Ethiopian music and reproduces the final salvos of the musical fireworks before they wer brutally extinguished by the dictatorship. These recordins were madde with a minimum of technical equipment, two microphones and a two track recorder. No studio but usually clubs like Hotel d'Afrique where the dinner bands were performing in the early evenings-because of the curfew. Ethiopian Groove is the thirteenth volume of the Ethiopiques series. Released in 2002.
