New Flamenco:
Term coined in early 90's in Spain to describe music made by groups who expand classic flamenco's line up of singer, guitarist, and clapping accompaniment to include different instruments and rhythms. Leaders of the movement include Ketama, singer Antonio Carbonel, guitarist Gerardo Nunez, and La Barberia del sur. Courtesy Afropop Worldwide: www.afropop.org |
