Orquesta La Moderna Tradición

Possibly the only orchestra of its kind inside or outside of Cuba, Orquesta La Moderna Tradicion dedicates itself to the performance of classic Cuban dance music, especially the lilting grooves of the danzon. A legendary ballroom style that developed from the synchronization of African and European music in Cuba, danzon lends the groove of Afro-Cuban drums to the refined riffs of flute and violins.

Led by renowned Cuban percussionist and dancer Roberto Borrell and violinist/composer Tregar Otton, Orquesta la Moderna Tradicion performs classics of the genre along with original compositions designed to keep the tradition alive and kicking. In addition to danzones, Orquesta plays the gambit of traditional and modern Cuban styles, from sones to songos, from cha-cha-cha to timba.
