Juan Reynoso

Juan Reynoso, was born in 1912, in Tierra Caliente, Michoacan and Guerrero, Mexico. He began playing violin at the age of seven. He never learned to read music, but he grew an enormous repertoire throughout his career. Juan has never written down any of his compositions, he learned to read words as an adult. He plays a variety of genres — sones, pasodobles, danzones, and polkas — but his preferred is gusto, a Mexican dance with a great rhythmic beat.

He has participated in the Festival de Fiddle Tunes in Port Townsend, Washington, every year since 1996. —Courtesy Calabash Music
