Gilyto

Gilyto Moreira Semedo was born in Achada Galego (Assomada) on the island of Santiago in Cape Verde. He migrated to Portugal in 1987 and lived in Holland in the mid-'90s. He recorded his first album in 1999, and in 2001 his second album, for which he was awarded his first gold disk for selling 30,000 albums.

He is a rising star and became known as "Mr. Entertainer" for interacting with his fans. —Courtesy Calabash Music
