George Thoedorakis, born in Paris in 1960, grew up in the musical surroundings of his well known father and worked together with him as a musician from an early age. In 1976 he set up his first studio and began to develop his own creative style alongside studio productions with numerous Greek artists. The first releases appeared in Greece between 1979 and 1983.
Nothing in Mind is the first production in the grander style. The CD combines Theodorakis's remarkable electronic compositions with moving, sometimes ballad-like songs. He describes his music as cool and ambient. In an interview during the recordings he explained: "This ambient music is constantly growing in me, particularly while I am traveling. Journeys bring these compositions to mind both are equally filled with a mixture of monotony and excitement."
The songs, on the other hand, which were contrapuntally interwoven into the ambient cycle, are described by Theodorakis more as the exception in his creation, as they "came to him suddenly."
Together with friends Asteris Koutoulas and Henning Schmiedt, he developed the idea of re-recording the songs and integrating them into the life cycle. It was through this that George came to work with the very popular Greek singer Dimitra Galani, who performs some of the songs with him. Courtesy Calabash Music
