Essam Rashad

Essam Rashad, born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1935, learned music from his father in early life. In his twenties, he became a composer for the national Egyptian radio station.

Gradually he became highly regarded as a talented musician and he joined the Egyptian National Orchestra as a specialist of the oud (lute). —Courtesy Calabash Music
