David Tayorault is one of those African songwriters who are able to distill the very essence and feeling from the Black Continent. He has been active for more than ten years since his start as lead vocalist with Woya, a successful band in the '80s. This exceptional artist from the Ivory Coast has managed to ride the popularity of the "zaglou," a peculiar genre enthusiastically embraced by the native students as liberation music, intended both in purely physical terms, given its rhythmic dance content, as well as in a more vast social perspective with particular attention to the value of its lyrics. David's unmistakable warm voice, rendered beautiful melodies as well as valuable scat improvisations mark him as a future star. Courtesy Calabash Music
