Bil Aka Kora presents djongo music, a name that comes from the kassena rhythms of southern Burkina Faso where Bil was born in 1971 and spent his childhood.
Djongo is a term that means '"dances of the force," which, when traditionally performed on bare earth, presses the ground violently, raising great clouds of dust.
Bil Aka Kora builds his compositions around this dance and its rhythms invite his audience to participate and dance with him. Courtesy Calabash Music
