Banco de Gaia, otherwise known as Toby Marks, has become a big name in the world of ambient/trance dance music. Banco de Gaia established a distinctive fusion of electronic and world music in the '90s that paved the way, along with Loop Guru and a handful of others, for the current popularity of Indian and Near Eastern-influenced acts.

In 1992 Banco de Gaia first appeared on the Beyond Ambient Dub compilations, which were the forerunners of today's "chill out" compilations. Toby's newest album, 10 Years, is a celebration of a decade in musical terms and is also a celebration of the return of the global rights to the entire back catalogue of Banco de Gaia's own label, Disco Gecko Recording. —Courtesy Calabash Music
