Atlantica

Atlantica's shows a deep understanding of Spain's Cantabrian and Celtic traditions. The band combines Cantabrian melodies and rhythms with other styles of Celtic music from the north of Spain and other countries.

Atlantica began in 1988 months after Marcos Barcena and Kate Gass met at the International Traditional Music Festival in St. Chartier, France. Since then they have been involved as interpreters of traditional music, first as a duo, then in 1998 as a quartet with Miguel Cobo on percussion and Ramon Bueno on piano and accordion. In September 2003, Jorge Iba (guitar and bass pedal) joined the group to make it a quintet. —Courtesy Calabash Music
