Andrea Echeverri spent 10 years the lead singer of the popular Colombian alternative rock band Aterciopelados. During that time the band recorded six albums and became one of the hottest in its genre. Then, Echeverri became pregnant. When the artist found out, she retreated to Bogota for a year. It was there that she began writing songs about pregnancy, her baby, love and other "feminist issues," she said. Within months, she had enough material to record her own album. And with the help of Aterciopelados co-founder Héctor Buitrago, she headed to the studios to record it. The result is a collection of ethereal electronica and softly rocking lullabies that show off the subtly powerful voice of this Colombian vocalist. Courtesy Calabash Music
