WOMEX Conference Announces Final 2006 Showcase Lineup

Annual World Music Expo Scheduled For Seville, Spain In October

WOMEX, the World Music Expo and trade fair held annually in Europe, announced today the final lineup of artists scheduled to perform at this year's showcases. The 2006 event will be held in October in Seville, Spain—and Spanish artists were represented accordingly.

DJ crew Los Rumbers and flamenco ensemble Los Patriarcas de la Rumba will both represent Spain in the showcases, while past WOMEX favorites Mártires Del Compàs and Son De La Frontera will kick off the event's opening night festivities. Other artists slated to perform include Colombian alternative duo Aterciopelados, Afghan rubab virtuoso Homayun Sakhi (Pictured), and Mozambican afropopsters Mabulu.

WOMEX, now in its 12th year, bills itself as "the world´s premier networking point exclusively dedicated to world, roots, folk, ethnic, traditional, local and diaspora music of all kinds." For more information and registration details, consult the WOMEX website.
