This week we turn to Brazil, where singer/songwriter Luísa Maita gives us a musical tour of her hometown, São Paulo, in the video for "Alento" from her solo debut Lero-Lero on Cumbancha records.
Directed by João Wainer, "Alento" takes the viewer on a stroll through the musically and culturally diverse Bexiga neighborhood where Luísa grew up, surrounded by the sounds of samba and bossa nova, as well as the music of immigrants from Brazil's Northeast and even farther abroad.
It's the confluence of these diverse sounds, filtered through Luísa's unique outlook and sensibility, that makes Lero-Lero such an infectious and compelling listening experience.
