Rupa And The April Fishes Announce 2012 Tour Dates
Build Tour To Kick Off Sept. 20th
San Francisco's Rupa and the April Fishes kick off their seven-month world tour with six weeks across the U.S. and Canada, including festival stops and headlining shows from Santa Barbara to New York City to support of their new album Build. The band's "ecstatic and powerfully evocative" (LA Times) sound has taken them to events ranging from the Montreal Jazz Festival to San Francisco's Warfield Theatre with Manu Chao to the Kennedy Center. Each show delivers horn-blaring, upright bass-thumping energy from band led by a "passionate performer who can go from a stomp to a waltz to a whisper and back again."
The band's new album Build is out October 2nd on Electric Gumbo Radio Music in the U.S. and will be distributed in Europe on the Nat Geo Music label.
Self-described as "the sound of a paradigm shifting," Rupa and the April Fishes is: Rupa (guitar, vocals), Mario Alberto Silva (trumpet), Aaron Kierbel (percussion, contraptions), Safa Shokrai (upright bass) and Misha Khalikulov (cello).
