Orba Squara's Long Trip

New York Musician's New Album And Cross-Country Road Trip

Orba Squara is the musical alter ego of Mitch Davis, an independent New York-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. Even if you don't recognize his name, there's a good chance you've heard his song "Perfect Timing" in the first international TV campaign for the iPhone (watch here).

On September 22nd Davis releases his sophomore album The Trouble With Flying. For the album he decided to take an organic approach to music, recording only on live instruments like the acoustic guitar, toy piano, and xylophone. He cites his goal to "do something different by purposely not using whatever's the most modern thing out there."

What most caught our attention about Orba Squara's new album was Davis' impulse to explore the music in greater depth by embarking with friends on a cross-country road trip and documenting their adventures. After their 11 day road trip from New York to Oregon the group created a stunning online travel documentary with pictures from the journey and music from the album. Check out the Orba Squara website.
