Los Lobos Announce New Album, Tour

Los Lobos Goes Disney First New Los Lobos Album In Three Years

Los Lobos, the Grammy-winning East L.A. band famed for blending rock, blues and traditional Mexican sounds, is back with their first new album in three years. Los Lobos Goes Disney from Disney Sound features 13 all-time classics from Disney films and theme parks, each given the raw and raucous Los Lobos treatment. Produced by Los Lobos, the CD is set for release October 27.

On the album, Los Lobos takes on such Disney classics as"Heigh-Ho" (from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), "I Wan'na Be Like You" and "Bare Necessities" (from The Jungle Book), "Not in Nottingham" and "Oo-De-Lally" (from Robin Hood) "Cruella De Vil" (from 101 Dalmatians), "Bella Notte" (from Lady and the Tramp) and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" (from Song of the South).

The band also throws in some surprises, performing "Grim Grinning Ghosts" and "The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room," songs from the Haunted Mansion and the Enchanted Tiki Room rides at Disneyland. Other songs featured on the CD include "I Will Go Sailing No More" (from Toy Story), "The Ugly Bug Ball" (from Summer Magic) and an instrumental medley of "When You Wish Upon a Star" and "It's a Small World." On the album, the band breaks out some authentic Mexican instruments, too, including hidalguera, requinto, jarocho, jarana, guitarron and bajo sexto.

The triple-Grammy Award winners released their debut album in 1978. The band broke wide with 1984's critically acclaimed How Will the Wolf Survive? In 1987, they released their follow-up, By the Light of the Moon, and also recorded Ritchie Valens covers for the soundtrack to the film La Bamba. Their version of the title track became a #1 hit for the band. Over the years, Los Lobos has released over a dozen albums, including the 2006 critically-acclaimed Hollywood Records album The Town and the City, live recordings, soundtracks and retrospectives.

Composed of singer/guitarists David Hidalgo, Louie Perez and Cesar Rosas, singer/bassist Conrad Lozano, sax player Steve Berlin and drummer Cougar Estrada, Los Lobos continue to blend rock, Tex-Mex, country, R&B, blues and traditional Mexican music such as boleros and Norteño, to craft a distinctive sound all their own.

Says Berlin: "We're all really happy with [the new album]. The kids record doesn't sound like a kids record. It just sounds like Los Lobos playing funky old songs, so I imagine over time we'll probably be integrating some of those songs into our set."

The band will also be touring throughout the fall.
