New York City To Host 2006 Latin Grammy Awards

Mayor Bloomberg Turns Out For Historic Announcement

Mayor Michael Bloomberg was on hand at Madison Square Garden today for the historic announcement that the Latin Grammy Awards would be held in New York City in November 2006 -- the first time that the city has ever hosted the event.

Joining Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences President Gabriel Abaroa and Univision news anchor Barbara Bermudo, Mayor Bloomberg welcomed the Latin Grammys in Spanish and English. "New York City is the proud home to the most diverse Hispanic population in the world," the mayor said. "There is only one New York, and we are thrilled that The Latin Recording Academy and Univision have selected New York City to help propel the Latin GRAMMY Awards to the next level."

The 7th annual Latin Grammy Awards will take place Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, in New York's Madison Square Garden.
