Juanes Announces New Album
Colombian Rocker Announces New Release For Fall 2007
by Tom PryorColombian rocker Juanes responded to growing rumors in the Latin media by releasing information about his upcoming album via his website. The twelve-time Latin Grammy winner confirmed that the album will be released in the fall of 2007 and will be titled La Vida Es Un Ratico ("Life Is A Moment"). The site also confirmed that the album would again be co-produced by Juane's longtime collaborator, Latin superproducer Gustavo Santaolalla.
The new release will be Juane's fourth studio album, following up his 2004 multiplatinum Grammy winner Mi Sangre. Though Juanes hasn't performed in public since he wrapped up his last world tour in August 2006, he's been busy recording in his home studio in the mountains outside his native Medellin, Colombia. Juanes recorded some of his initial impressions of the new album on his website, saying that the songs "sound very Colombian" - incorporating local styles such as guasca, cumbia and vallenato - and that the album's title was inspired by a comment from his mother.
According to a press release from Juanes' label, the artist will give further details about the new album on April 25th in Miami, when he appears in a live Q&A session at the Billboard Latin Music Conference.
