Issac Delgado Announces U.S. Tour
Cuban Singer To Make First Appearances After Defecting To U.S.
by Tom PryorCuban singer Issac Delgado announced plans for his first-ever U.S. solo tour in support of his new album En Primera Plana. The former lead singer of legendary Cuban dance band Los Van Van is one of contemporary Cuban music's greatest voices; an innovator who deftly fuses jazz and pop with classic Afro-Cuban elements.
En Primera Plana is Delgado's first recording of new material in this decade and includes the duet "La Mujer Que Mas Me Duele" with salsa star Victory Manuelle. The album is also Delgado's first recording since his defection to the U.S. last year. Delgado joined the ranks of so many other Cuban artists when he quietly relocated, with his wife and three children, to Miami in 2006.
Delgado's seven city tour will include appearances at the Hollywood Bowl, the Monterey Jazz Festival and Brooklyn's Prospect Park and will mark his live debut in more than one North American city.
