8th Havana Film Festival In New York Scheduled For April
Festival Will Run From April 13th to 19th
by Global Rhythm Magazine NewsThe 8th Annual Havana Film Festival in New York (HFFNY) will run from April 13th to 19th, 2007, and will present rarely seen new films from and about Latin America, as well as classic features, documentaries, short and animated films.
The N.Y. premiere of award-winner, El Benny, by Cuban Director Jorge Luis Sanchez, will open the festival on April 13 at the Quad Cinema. New Yorkers and metropolitan area residents will have the opportunity to see during seven days more than 40 films from over 13 countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, U.S and Uruguay).
Film lovers and the general public will also have a unique opportunity to attend panel discussions with directors, producers and actors. This year, HFFNY will also pay tribute to one of the most acclaimed contemporary Cuban actors, Jorge Perugorria (Strawberry and Chocolate, Guantanamera) and will host a greatly anticipated panel in marketing and distribution, moderated by Sandy Lieberson, Chairman, Film London.
All foreign language films are subtitled in English and will be screened in several locations, including the Quad Cinema, The Metropolitan Museum Of Art, The Museum of the Moving Image, The King Juan Carlos I Of Spain Center at NYU and The Tisch School Of The Arts theater at NYU.
