Geo Sessions: Ani DiFranco
Alt.Folk Legend Ani DiFranco Tears Up Our Stage In Washington, DC
In this episode of Geo Sessions, shot last fall in the National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C., DiFranco and her band blaze through a tight, road-tested set of her alt-folk classics including "78% Water," "Both Hands," "As Is" and "Subdivisions".
A wildly prolific working musician with nineteen albums to date, DiFranco has always championed progressive causes and social issues in her music. DiFranco also practices what she preaches - she began Righteous Babe Records in 1989 as a way to both market her own music and to escape the pressures of major labels.
At times raging, at times tender, Ani DiFranco and her music never cease to be intelligent, forward thinking and undeniably original.
