Grammy-winning Argentine rockeros Los Fabulosos Cadillacs recently announced dates the initial dates for their upcoming fall U.S. tour, adding a final leg to their 50 date world tour in support of their new album, La Luz Del Ritmo. The announced dates include a swing through NYC, Chicago and Southern California and follow up last April's whirlwind U.S. tour.
After a seven-year hiatus, the Grammy-winning band launched a successful stadium run that stormed across Latin America over the past year. The Cadillacs sold over 100,000 tickets to their two shows in Mexico City in November and 120,000 tickets for their Buenos Aires shows in December. They also received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2008 MTV Latin America Music Video Awards.
La Luz del Ritmo is the iconic group's first studio album in almost ten years, and was produced by the band and Robert Carranza (Mars Volta, Los Lobos, Jack Johnson). The album features entirely new original songs such as title track "La Luz del Ritmo" and "Flores" in addition to new versions of the band's classics like "Mal Bicho" and "Padre Nuestro" and the Cadillacs' take on their own favorites like The Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go".
Los Fabulosos Cadillacs have been widely acclaimed as one of the world's most important rock bands of the past two decades. Recognized for their groundbreaking fusion of ska, rock, tropical, punk, reggae and Latin rhythms, the Cadillacs have sold millions of records worldwide. They became stars in their native Argentina throughout the late 80s before propelling the Latin Rock genre into the international spotlight in the 90s.
