Calle 13 Announce Release of Sin Mapa
Puerto Rican Reggaeton Duo To Release Documentary Film On July 28th
by Tom PryorPuerto Rico's reggaeton tricksters Calle 13 announced the upcoming release of Sin Mapa ("Without a Map"), a film project described as "a documentary experience of this journey of enlightenment through the less traveled mountains, rivers and villages of Peru, Colombia, Argentina and more in a quest to infuse their artistry with a broader global understanding." The documentary will be available through Sony Music Latin on DVD and through iTunes on July 28th.
Sin Mapa is the duo's first documentary film project, which records the duo's travels in South America and, according to a press statement, "looks to shed the trappings of modern celebrity in order to find the true indigenous music, culture and spirit of a continent." The film's theatrical premiere will take place on July 29th, at the New York International Latino Film Festival.
Calle 13 is a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo formed by half-brothers Eduardo José Cabra Martínezand René Pérez Joglar-also known as Residente and Visitante. The brothers' quirky, innovative take on Puerto Rico's ubiquitous reggaeton sound has earned them critical praise both on and off the island and made them multiple Latin Grammy and Grammy Award winners. Their latest release Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo ("The Ones Left Behind Are Coming With Me") is currently available on Sony Music Latin.
