We Love Bomba Estéreo

Mix Of Electronica, Hip-Hop, And Colombian Rhythms Lights Our "Fuego"

Colombian group Bomba Estéreo made their US debut earlier this year and I've been hooked ever since. Emerging from Bogotá's underground electronic scene in 2005, the band mixes electronica, dub, and hip-hop with Colombian rhythms like cumbia and champeta. While the musicians, led by Simón Mejía, create a driving, dance-worthy sound, the real standout is singer Liliana Saumet. Samuet sings as though she's ready for a fight and you would not want to get on her bad side. Check out the video to their single "Fuego" (below) and listen to how she sings the chorus, "fffueeeego!"

As the colder months approach in the northern hemisphere, Bomba Estéreo offers the perfect antidote to the winter. But for those of you on the West Coast, who don't really have to deal with the cold anyway, don't miss Bomba Estéreo's November tour dates:

Nov. 8 - La Pena Cultural Center (Berkeley, CA)
Nov. 9 - Doug Fir (Portland, OR)
Nov. 10 - The Crocodile (Seattle, WA)
Nov. 13 - The Echo (Los Angeles, CA)
