New Bob Marley Biography To Be Published
Before The Legend: The Rise of Bob Marley Offers New Look At Reggae Star's Rise To Fame
by Global Rhythm Magazine NewsAmistad/Harper Collins announced today that it will publish journalist Christopher John Farley's Before The Legend: The Rise of Bob Marley, the first major biography of Bob Marley in more than two decades.
The book contains new interviews with key players in Marley's life, including Bunny Wailer, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Rita Marley, Aston "Family Man" Barrett, Chris Blackwell and others. It will also feature the first-ever published interviews with members of Marley's father's family and uncovers fresh information about the reggae great's family history.
Before The Legend also draws on unpublished audio interviews of Marley, as well as rare interviews from the Jamaican press and other sources—including secret audio recordings made by Marley's former bandmate Peter Tosh before his death. These excerpts have not been previously published. The cover features a never-before published photo of Bob Marley by acclaimed photographer Kate Simon.
The book is due in stores May 1, 2006
