Aterciopelados Return With New Album, Tour

Colombian Alt-Rockers Release First New Album In Five Years

For fans of Colombian alt-rockers Aterciopelados, the long wait is over. The duo will be returning to the U.S with a much-anticipated new album, Oye—scheduled for release on October 24th on Nacional Records—and a twelve city tour in October and November.

Oye is Aterciopelados' first new studio album in five years, following the release of 2001's Grammy-nominated Gozo Poderoso, and marks the band's return to form after founding members Andrea Echeverri and Hector Buitrago both released solo albums last year.
In a press release, the group touts Oye as "a return to a more organic, rock sound, reminsicent of earlier work."

Aterciopelados—whose name translates roughly as "The Velvets"—formed in Bogota, Colombia in the early 90's, debuting with 1994's Con El Corazon en La Mano. The group subsequently rose to fame in Colombia and abroad, and became a critical darling and favorite of the Latin alternative set—eventually winning multiple Grammy nominations for their progressive, challenging body of work.
