Review:

Saó, in Valencian, means the earth prepared for sowing. Behind the poetry of the word, perfectly suited to the melodies of Jerez-Texas, there is a beautiful picture: the fertile earth full of promises, like a CD one is holding in one's hands for the first time. The trio has already shown on stage the seductive power of its music which, and that is not very common, commands respect while raising smiles. With Saó, Jerez-Texas has explored other territories in their universe. The improvisations where jazz and flamenco lightly interweave are still very much present but the three musicians, accompanied by other artists, have traded the energy deployed live for softer arrangements, with subtle shimmers and golden reflections. This is the colour of the wheat when the harvest is good. Saó consists of 10 titles, 8 of which are original compositions from Jerez-Texas : Siroco, Celtic Fandango, La Culpita, Après la Pluie, Vital, Alegrias de la Casa, Tangos al Jerez and Rumbamarga. The other 2 are from classic French songs. The musicians who have collaborated on this album are: Osvaldo Jorge (tabla, percussion) Isabel Julve (cante, dance) Carlos Sanchis (chromatic accordion) Fernando Burgos "Burguitos" (song) Josep Aparicio "Apa" (traditional song) Gabriel Saglio (clarinet) Released in October 2005
