Review:
Neba's tribute to the Can 2002, the African Champions Cup of Soccer (la Coupe d'Afrique des Nations) held in Mali for the first time in 2002. Les Aigles (The Eagles), Mali's team, almost won, inspired in part (we're sure) by the many artists who produced albums dedicated to the team, the tournament and Mali's victory. Catch some of the excitement on the track CAN 2002 which could be heard across Mali before, during and after the tournament. Still today, if it comes on the radio, everyone knows the words and sings along. Maybe because by losing to eventual chamion Cameroon and by then beating Nigeria to take 3rd place, Mali showed the world that it is rich in both soccer and music. — CalabashMusic.com |
